Exclusive First Look at Fisher Island’s Newest Addition: Palazzo Del Sol
Written By: Suzanne Oostdyk
I worked as sales executive at Fisher Island Real Estate between the years of 2005-2010. I have great love and history with Fisher Island; a magical setting with ultimate exclusivity in island living and still close enough to all the exciting places Miami has to offer! Fisher Island is only a seven-minute ferry ride over to South Beach. When I had moved my business from Fisher Island to sell off the island in 2010, the process of a much needed $60M+ renovation of the islands common areas and facilities such as the Nine Hole Golf Course, Tennis Courts, Spa, On-Site Restaurants and Beach Club was well underway. I returned last week to visit Fisher Island’s newest building, Palazzo del Sol (translation: Palace of the Sun, which that indeed it is). Most residents who purchased in the earlier years wanted a building that was unpretentious, where they can come and go as they please giving them a sense of independence and privacy. Palazzo Del Sol, on the other hand, is for those that wanted more modern design, exquisite materials, luxuriousness and well, 5-star services. Palazzo Del Sol arrived at a great time, matching, if not surpassing, the gorgeous new island renovations. Palazzo Del Sol has valet parking, a concierge to greet you, pool service, and a butler available for your other needs.
The architect Fisher Island hired is the famed Kobi Karp, known for his modern designs which they impose as much as possible while keeping the Mediterranean design and feel of the other buildings on the island. Antrobus and Ramirez are Miami-based designers that were chosen for their consistent ability to listen to their client’s vision and bring about an unforgettable story with mixed materials, details, patterns and textures.
The units at Palazzo Del Sol are notably larger than the rest of the islands other buildings, which range from 3,793 SqFt for a 3 bedroom to 9,826 SqFt for a penthouse ranging in prices from $6.5M – $26M. Comparatively, the other buildings contain smaller units from 690 SqFt to 7,000 SqFt, and prices ranging from $975,000 – $21M. Recently, a Palazzo Del Sol penthouse sold for $21.5M, setting a new Fisher Island record.
I decided to drive around the island to reminisce. Most residents use a golf cart to get around the island. It is a nice feeling in the open air. The island has always been well-manicured and super clean. You won’t find a drop of trash anywhere. The landscape today looks fuller, richer, and more beautifully arranged flowers are sprinkled throughout the island. The air smells sweeter, the birds are happily singing and you just can’t help but relax, which is truly a pleasure. I drove by the golf course on Par 1 and could hear them teeing off TING! I also stopped by the market and felt like I had just walked into a Fresh Market Junior. The market offered a fabulous assortment of prepared foods, juices, pastries, wines, and champagne arranged neatly among other things you may need while on the island. I’m sure residents are extremely pleased not having to make trips off-shore for emergency things that are frequently needed. The service on Fisher Island is always impeccable and always served with a smile. Besides the mile long private beach, the Fisher Island Beach Club offers a full beach with all types of services on-hand. In my opinion, this is the only beach in Miami that offers a great sense of serenity, security, elegant beach services and a wonderful feeling of community. It is a member’s only island, however you can call and stay at the Fisher Island Hotel. The Fisher Island Club also offers summer membership specials. For $6,500+tax you can use all the amenities during June 1st to September 30th. If you would like further details about Palazzo Del Sol, please contact me directly at (305) 725-9696 or by email.
